Assume that imported machinery in a wooden case must be delivered to a site without a forklift.

The individual cargo weight, case base, lifting fittings, center of gravity, and worksite conditions should be confirmed. Where the case can be lifted safely and sufficient outrigger space, ground support, and overhead clearance are available, a truck-mounted crane vehicle may be suitable.

If the case has no suitable lifting structure, arranging a truck-mounted crane does not solve the problem. The parties must consider a separately arranged heavy forklift or whether a tail lift and suitable trolley can be used.

The quotation should separate the vehicle, operator, rigging, additional labor, Waiting Charges, and inside-delivery work.

Example 2: Precision Equipment Transported by Air-Suspension Truck

Assume that imported measuring equipment must be transported subject to vibration and tilt restrictions specified by the manufacturer.

In addition to arranging an air-suspension truck, the securing method, cushioning, loading, unloading equipment, and possible tilt at the site must be confirmed.

Even where road vibration is reduced, the equipment may be damaged if the forklift stops suddenly or the cargo is tilted on a tail lift.

A data logger may be used where appropriate, and cargo condition should be recorded before loading, on arrival, and after unloading.

Example 3: Tall Machinery Delivered by Low-Floor Truck

Assume that large machinery in a wooden case must be delivered using a low-floor truck.

The maximum height must include the machine, case, base, and protection. This height must be added to the actual cargo-floor height of the selected vehicle.

Route restrictions, delivery-site gates, internal entrances, and vehicle turning space must also be confirmed. Where loaded dimensions or weight exceed applicable limits, statutory road procedures may be required.

Arrival at the delivery site does not complete the operation if no suitable equipment is available to unload the machinery. Crane or forklift capacity must therefore be confirmed at both origin and destination.
